Planters Inn is a little refuge in the heart of the historic district of Charleston. It has been an instant classic since its opening in 1994. It is the only Relais & Châteaux managed property in the city.

Editors Note: We have booked plenty of clients at this property with much success. It is perfect for couples looking for an intimate experience.
Planters Inn refers to itself as an acclaimed luxury boutique hotel… and rightly so! This gem in Charleston has won awards from Forbes Magazine, Condé Nast Traveler and Wine Spectator. It was named the best small city hotel in the United States by Travel & Leisure.
We like it too!
Planters Inn lies at the corner of Market and Meeting Streets in Charleston. There is a lot of pedestrian activity, but once inside the hotel’s lobby is like stepping into an oasis of tranquility. The property dates from around 1844. Fireplaces, high ceilings, and an antique Chinese tea chest in the lobby assure the historic manor house vibe.
The peace and quiet extend in the neutral and pastel earth colors of the guest suites. Planters Inn’s main building is home to Old World traditional rooms. The Piazza Building offers more modernly-decorated suites. This mixture provides accommodations that suit every taste.
Since its debut in the 90s, Planters Inn has shown great hospitality. The hotel’s one and only dining option, Peninsula Grill, is known in turn for its fine dining. Chef Ramon Taimanglo is proud to craft Southern cuisine together with his culinary team. Indulge in his refined dishes inside or outside in the tree-lined courtyard.
Don’t forget to leave some space for dessert! The dessert menu, and the trademarked 12-layer Coconut Cake in particular won’t let you down. Together with some bubbles in Peninsula Grill’s Champagne Bar, your stay at Planters Inn is complete.
Guests can also enjoy in room breakfast on a silver platter or in Peninsula Grill. Whether you choose something sweet or savory, or want a quick Continental option on the go, it all takes place there!. Come back at 4pm and pick a drink or a snack from the dedicated pub menu.
